PCI CT Bus Enabled Module
SBE’s wanADAPT-HC4T1E1 is a combination of H.100 TDM technology and four full-featured T1/E1/J1 interface ports with a high-density synchronous communications controller. It’s also a standards-compliant interface adapter with unprecedented flexibility.
The wanADAPT-HC4T1E1 has an ETCF standard H.100 TDM interface that extends the standard PCI functionality to include a local CT Bus port. With full local CT Bus access to all timeslots of both the T1/E1/J1 ports and the 128 channel synchronous communications controller, the wanADAPT-HC4T1E1 brings the flexibility of modular
I/O to computer telephony and convergence solutions. For add/drop and switching applications, the onboard timeslot interchanger offers local routing of individual timeslots, hyperchannels, and subchannels.
Selectable T1/E1/J1 Interfaces
Each of the four COMET T1/E1/J1-capable interfaces on the wanADAPT-HC4T1E1 supports a wide range of framing formats, line buildouts, clocking modes, and connectivity options. I/O access is available through the shielded front panel RJ48C connectors with built in secondary protection. Clocking options include onboard oscillators for local timing, CT Bus derived chassis wide clocking, loop timing, and distributed central clocking with automatic fallback. Framing is selectable between SF, ESF, SLC96, G.704, and Japanese JT-G704 formats. The line interface is software selectable for T1, E1, or J1 operation with digitally programmable long haul and short haul line build out.
Multichannel Communications Controller
The wanADAPT-HC4T1E1 uses a Conexant Multichannel Synchronous Communications Controller (MUYSCC) to provide up to 128 links of HDLC, SS7 support or transparent mode protocol processing. Both hyperchannels and subchannels are supported. Links can be routed locally from the T1/E1/J1 interfaces or from the H.100 CT Bus.
PCI bus access is through the MUSYCC’s integrated 32 bit, 33MHz PCI interface, using 3.3v (5v tolerant) signaling and power. The MUSYCC uses multi-ring descriptor based DMA with interrupts for efficient PCI bus utilization. It acts as a PCI master for DMA access and as a PCI slave for access to the framers and clocking routing registers.
Applications
The wanADAPT-HC4T1E1 is a cost-effective solution for a wide range of network applications. In a standard PCI slot, it provides add/drop and local routing capability to any enterprise server, as well as edge and core routers. The software selectable T1/E1/J1 I/O feature allows deployment in world markets.
The combination of communications T1/E1, PCI and CT bus interfaces on the wanADAPT-HC4T1E1 make it ideally suited to high density signaling solutions in softswitch, computer telephony and network convergence applications.
